Synergy
Yesterday, I saw a real demonstration of Synergy working. I don’t think the full coolness of this application can be grasped without seeing it action. Imagine 2 screens side by side. Each screen is hooked to a separate computer. On the left screen, picture your Linux desktop, and on your right screen, picture you Windows XP desktop. Now imagine if you just moved your mouse on your Linux desktop to the right and as it disappeared from the right side of that desktop, it reappeared on the left side of your Windows XP desktop. One keyboard, one mouse, multiple computers and monitors with no additional hardware (other than a network). Now imagine that while you messing with your Linux box, you copied something into the clipboard, and imagine that when you’ve moved back over to the Windows XP, you can now paste using the information from Linux desktop session. Furthermore, imagine that you had 3 or 4 or more screens and you could do this with all of them. Oh, did I mention that it will also launch the screensavers in sync? Just too cool!
